This position is a member of our Program Support and Environmental Assistance Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Direct staff activities related to providing confidential compliance assistance on air, water, and waste regulations to small businesses and small local governments and educating the public and regulated community on rules, TCEQ processes, and environmental issues.
- Oversee the implementation of the Enforcement Diversion Program to include making recommendations for improvements to the Director. Direct staff activities related to providing technical support to Area/Region staff, OCE Divisions, and other internal and external customers, facilitate programmatic coordination across areas and regions, oversee the development of annual regional work plan, implement processes to coordinate operations across all regions and areas.
- Direct staff activities related to data management and reporting, and OCE training. Track and communicate organizational performance metrics.
- Participate in evaluating new initiatives (federal or state) and proposed legislation as it impacts OCE Areas and agency operations. Contribute to the agency’s strategic planning process and participate in agency rule making.
- Ensure implementation of agency initiatives, policies, and procedures. Monitor and report on EPA, regulatory, and Legislative Budget Board commitments related to division program areas and regional activities.
- Represent OCE in meetings and public functions to provide information and promote coordination with all internal and external customers. Provide oversight of OCE responses to public information requests (PIRs) and legislative and media requests.
- Supervise staff involvement and interaction with the Environmental Protection Agency. Serve as division contact to the Agency Records Management program concerning records retention, storage, access, and destruction.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.
OR
Experience in the management of a business function, division, or department to include professional management experience where primary duties consists of planning organizing, controlling, and directing the work of an organization or formal subdivision, or team.
OR
Experience as a special assistant to a TCEQ director or deputy director developing management policies and directing/evaluating operations.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ .
