Overview

Selby Jennings is partnered with an Investment Bank working in the cross section of Energy and Consumer Investment Banking. This firm boasts a track record of consistently closing deals despite market swings, and operates in active sectors. They are looking to bring an Investment Banking Associate to their team due to their strong pipeline for 2026/2027. Ideal candidates are current or recent Investment Banking Associates with experience in working on transactions beginning to close.

Additionally, ideal candidates are located in, or open to relocating to Austin, Texas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day execution of live transactions, including M&A, debt financings, and equity offerings.
  • Build and review detailed financial models: DCF, LBO, merger models, trading and transaction comps.
  • Prepare client deliverables including pitch materials, management presentations, CIMs, board materials, and investor marketing documents.
  • Conduct in-depth industry and company research across the Energy and Consumer sectors, including thematic analyses, competitive landscapes, and valuation benchmarking.
  • Coordinate internal and external parties—senior bankers, clients, lawyers, accountants, and consultants—to drive transaction processes.
  • Mentor and oversee Analysts, providing guidance on modeling, analytics, and work product quality.
  • Support senior bankers with business development initiatives, idea generation, and client engagement.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or a related field.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills with the ability to independently build and audit complex models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a polished, professional presentation style.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
  • Deep interest in both Energy (Oil & Gas, Energy Transition, Power & Renewables)
    and Consumer (CPG, Retail, Food & Beverage, Beauty, Consumer Services).
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CFA, or other advanced credentials a plus.
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and capable of thriving in a high-performance culture.
