Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled Sr. Accountant to join our team in Austin, Texas. As a key contributor to the financial operations, you will ensure compliance with accounting standards, maintain accurate records, and support strategic financial planning. This is a long-term contract position offering an opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to the organization's success.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and document all capital additions accurately.

- Consistently apply capitalization policies and maintain thorough documentation for qualifying costs.

- Conduct monthly reviews of closed projects and reclassify items below the capitalization threshold.

- Track and record capital expenditures related to growth initiatives and acquisitions.

- Collaborate with teams from accounting, engineering, and operations to align project costs and asset tracking.

- Prepare journal entries for adjustments, accruals, and reclassifications to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

- Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure proper recording of transactions.

- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes with precision.

- Analyze monthly financial results and ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

- Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to optimize capital accounting workflows. Requirements - Proven experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting.

- Expertise in asset accounting, including additions, allocations, and inventory management.

- Strong understanding of capital expenditure tracking and project completion monitoring.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts.

- Familiarity with budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic financial planning.

- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost alignment.

- Knowledge of internal controls and financial risk mitigation strategies.

- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in financial statement preparation.
