Personal Financial Counselor, PFC - Austin, TX
This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations, offering comprehensive counseling to service members and their families.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering military life‑cycle events.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure chat, video) as authorized.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in supervision, sharing trends and issues.
- Participate in regular in‑service training, quality‑improvement committees, or contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required (associate degree + 4 years experience or high school diploma + 6 years experience may be considered).
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluent English (bilingual English/Spanish if required by contract).
- Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Capability to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary range: $53,125 – $84,995, with possible short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package including health, life, and voluntary benefits.
