Client:
Our client is the private credit group of a large global asset management firm with over $20B AUM. They are a private corporate credit investing platform offering direct lending capabilities to middle‑market companies across various industry sectors.
They are currently seeking an Associate to join their Austin team. The Associate will work in small deal teams (usually 2 to 3, with 1-2 senior deal team members) on all aspects of credit investing. The group has significant capital to invest, and they have been quite active in recent years. They typically invest in middle market companies across all industry sectors.
The group has the ability to invest in a variety of transaction structures, including first and second lien, unitranche, mezzanine debt, and on occasion, preferred equity.
- Work on a small deal team, on all aspects of credit investing
- Play a key role in the execution of transactions and management of portfolio investments, including due diligence, financial modeling, industry research, preparation of investment memoranda
- Work closely with financial sponsors and management teams
- Manage transactions with minimal supervision
- Strive to make a positive impact by being a team player and an effective project manager
- Develop an understanding of the firm’s credit philosophy and apply it to the evaluation and execution of investments
- At least two years of relevant work experience (leveraged finance, financial sponsors or M&A investment banking, private equity, or private credit investing)
- Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
- Ties to Texas preferred
- Ability to work well with other team members at various levels of seniority
- Produce high‑quality, accurate work in a timely manner, with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
- Strong quantitative and problem‑solving ability
- Take ownership of projects and drive the process but also knows when to ask for assistance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Maturity to build strong relationships with counterparts at operating companies sample financial sponsors
