Role OverviewOur client is a recently acquired private equity–backed company that was historically founder-led
. Following the transaction, the founder has exited
, and a new CEO was appointed at the start of Q4 2025 to lead the business through its next phase of professionalization and growth.
An Interim CFO has been in place post-acquisition
, stabilizing the finance function and overseeing a full back-office audit to assess systems, processes, controls, and reporting. With that foundational work complete, the company is now seeking a permanent Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to take ownership of the finance organization, build durable infrastructure, and partner closely with the CEO and PE sponsor to drive value creation.
The business generates approximately $250 million in annual revenue and is entering a phase focused on operational rigor, scalable financial processes, and M&A-driven growth
, with a clear path toward a future liquidity event.
- Transition from Interim CFO and assume full ownership of the finance function
- Hire and build out the accounting organization
, including the recruitment of a Controller - Implement recommendations and remediation items identified during the back-office audit
- Strengthen close discipline, controls, reporting accuracy, and audit readiness
- Partner with the CEO and PE sponsor to refine financial strategy and value-creation priorities
- Accounting: To be built out by incoming CFO (Controller hire required)
- FP&A: Established and functioning, led by a Director of FP&A with two Analysts
- Interim CFO: In place through transition period to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer
- Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team and a strategic partner to the CEO and PE sponsor
- Translate the PE investment thesis into actionable financial and operational initiatives
- Lead board reporting, investor communications, and executive-level financial storytelling
- Provide clear, decision-ready insights to support growth, margin expansion, and capital allocation
- Hire and develop a high-performing Controller and broader accounting team
- Design and scale accounting, controllership, treasury, tax, and internal controls functions
- Implement institutional-grade financial policies, procedures, and governance
- Ensure GAAP compliance, audit readiness, and lender / investor reporting standards
- Partner closely with the Director of FP&A to enhance forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning
- Develop robust KPI frameworks and dashboards to monitor performance across the organization
- Drive cash flow management, liquidity planning, and debt covenant compliance
- Support operational leaders with data-driven insights to improve unit economics and profitability
- Lead financial diligence for add-on acquisitions (QoE support, valuation analysis, working capital)
- Own post-close integration planning and execution, including systems, reporting, and controls
- Build a repeatable M&A integration playbook to support future acquisition activity
- Partner with operations to capture synergies and execute margin improvement initiatives
- Prepare the company for a future exit through reporting maturity, data quality, and operational transparency
- Lead sell-side readiness efforts, including financial normalization and data room preparation
- Act as a key leader through transaction execution and sponsor exit processes
- Proven CFO experience in private equity–backed portfolio or platform companies
- Experience stepping into businesses post-founder transition and professionalizing finance functions
- Direct leadership of M&A add-on acquisitions
, including diligence and integration - At least one successful exit as CFO (sale to PE, strategic buyer, or recapitalization)
- Strong technical foundation across GAAP accounting, FP&A, cash management, and deal finance
- Demonstrated ability to build teams, systems, and scalable processes
- Hands-on, execution-first leader who can operate effectively in both strategic and tactical roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred
- CFO role at a critical inflection point following founder exit and leadership transition
