As the business continues to grow, the company is seeking a Controller to oversee core accounting and financial operations, ensure accurate and timely reporting, and support leadership with financial insight and controls. This individual will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, managing close and compliance, and partnering with operations to support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee full-cycle accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Develop, monitor, and report on the annual budget and forecasts, providing variance analysis and recommendations to leadership.
- Implement and maintain job costing and project accounting to track labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses for multiple construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies for all financial reporting.
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to support financial decision-making and cash flow planning for ongoing projects.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
- Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and analysis to senior management and the board of directors.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for financial systems, processes, and controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervise and mentor finance and accounting staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in construction, contracting, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, contract revenue recognition, and project financial reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Quick Books, or Net Suite).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to leadership.
- Ability to lead and develop accounting staff, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
- Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with multiple priorities.
