About the Opportunity

Our client, a rapidly scaling energy technology company, is seeking an Assistant Controller to serve as the Controller’s “right hand.” This is a top-priority accounting/finance hire and an opportunity for a senior operator to take on delegated projects and technical scope. We are looking for exceptional talent ready to lead in a dynamic, asset-heavy environment.

• Public accounting foundation: 4+ years, with exposure to ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 842 (Leases), equity accounting, and financial statement drafting.
• Industry experience: Full close ownership, audit from the company side, and in-house technical memos with audit review.
• Environment fit: Large-scale manufacturing or rapid-growth startup; comfortable automating, implementing tools, and creative problem-solving.
• Team leadership: Experience leading, reviewing, and developing others.
• CPA preferred (not strictly required).

• Ability to walk through ASC 718 (Stock Comp), ASC 606, ASC 842, and articulate financial statement drafting.
• Comfort running accounting in a complex, changing operation: automate processes, evaluate/implement systems, and own cross-functional technical scopes.

• Business model: Energy tech company producing/deploying assets that remain on the balance sheet; thousands of fixed assets tracked by site/home; significant intercompany consolidations.
• Growth: Continued increased revenue significantly year-over-year, with expectations for continued exponential growth.

• Own/lead portions of monthly & quarterly close; review and coach Staff Accountant; coordinate with AP (PO-driven, GRNI, prepaids, deposit tracking).
• Partner with Revenue Accounting on technical topics (606, performance obligations, variable consideration).
• Fixed asset accounting at scale: capitalization, asset tracking by site/home, depreciation, impairments; intercompany eliminations/consolidation mechanics.
• Systems/process: design & improve workflows; evaluate alternatives to current ERP; build automation in close/consolidations (Excel + tooling).
