Electronics Technician, Electronics Engineer
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Test Technician in Austin, TX for a 5-month contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This role performs production test functions during the production phase of the program, supporting electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical equipment and systems. The technician will work from schematics and engineering drawings to troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and document results using standard electronics lab tools, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and coordination with production operations and engineering.
Required Skills
High school or trade school diploma (or equivalent) plus basic electronic technology knowledge acquired through advanced study up to two (2) years
Computer literacy
Ability to focus on tasking with fine attention to detail
Experience working with a microscope
Basic electronics troubleshooting and repair fundamentals
Experience using tools such as an oscilloscope, multimeter, and signal generators
Ability to interpret technical data including drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of complete electronic systems
Understanding of electronics fundamentals including operation/identification of resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors, relays, and transformers
Ability to become solder certified
Preferred Skills
Troubleshooting experience down to circuit component level and mechanical functions
4 years of related experience
Ability to communicate well with others
Experience performing basic electronic troubleshooting, testing, and mechanical assembly operations
Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions
Ability to obtain and hold ESD, Material Handling, and Solder certifications
Ability to use various crimping tools
1 3 years of experience as an electronic assembler
Education in Electronics Engineering Technology or related computer-related study
What You'll Do
Provide production test functions during the production phase of the program
Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems
Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions
Operate related test equipment, conduct tests, and report data in the prescribed format
Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed
Prepare prescribed compounds and solutions as required
Coordinate with production operations, engineering, and related personnel to plan and analyze results
Perform other related duties as assigned
