Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 per year
We are one of the fastest growing mechanical, HVAC and plumbing contractors in TX. We are entering a period of sustained growth and have an immediate opening for an experienced Project Engineer, working directly under the company's Vice President of Operations. The right candidate will join our company as it nears its 20th‑year in business. The top line goal of this position:
Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting and implementation for projects ranging in size from $50,000 – $20 million at assigned job sites across the TX.

Job Description:
- Manages the bid recap process from start to finish, including writing proposal letters, and completing bid forms and breakouts.
- Participates in bid review meetings prior to submitting proposals.
- Tracks all addenda, scope changes, and breakouts to ensure timely processing and incorporation into the estimate.
- Communicates with internal stakeholders regarding project specifications, scope, reports, value engineering options, timelines, or other bid‑related matters.
- Verifies system specifications summary for accuracy.
- Leads the assigned take‑off team in project page turns to communicate project expectations and requirements for accurate take‑offs.
- Performs quantity take‑offs of equipment/fixtures and reviews project plans/specifications to fully understand the project scope.
- Identifies any missing pricing for labor, scope, and material.
- Reviews vendor and subcontractor scope letters for accuracy and maintains communication with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors about missing pricing and required breakouts to complete bids on time.
- Coordinates the pre‑construction interface between sales and estimating to ensure efficient use of estimating capacity and resources to meet sales and marketing goals.
- Leverages market conditions, customer needs, competition insights, historical market niches, and internal resource capabilities to meet current and projected workload demands.
- Develops, monitors, and manages departmental processes and procedures to maximize productivity while minimizing acceptable risk.
- Works under general supervision with limited guidance.
- Performs additional duties as needed to support departmental objectives.
Job Requirements:
- 5 or more years of experience in mechanical contracting, working as an Estimator or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of piping, plumbing, and sheet metal systems.
- Experience in system cost analysis for various applications and building types.
- Ability to generate complete conceptual estimates for design‑build projects and budgets based on a mechanical system narrative.
- Interview experience for construction project presentations.
- Strong understanding of how corporate objectives impact estimating and the strategies and techniques used in various types of construction contracts.
- Ability to interpret contractual documents, plans, and specifications.
- Some coursework or work experience in basic mechanical systems and engineering concepts.
- Proficiency with computerized estimating systems (e.g., ESTMEP for PVF take‑offs and Blue Beam for drawings).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
