Senior Electrical Design Engineer – R&D & Manufacturing
Location:
Texas – on-site R&D & manufacturing site supporting both research and product development. Products include Intelli Blate (microwave ablation) and Cryo 38‑T cryo ablation systems for cancer treatment.
- On‑site required; flexible scheduling during transition and training.
- Hands‑on roles – remote work is not standard.
- No travel required.
- Minimum 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- Strong background in test engineering, test development, and practical hands‑on work.
- Medical device experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Screening interview with hiring manager.
- Second interview with additional team members.
- Team panel interview (especially for EE and PM roles).
- Culture fit is a key consideration.
- Support the Austin, TX site as an electrical engineer for components, devices, systems, software, and test systems in commercial product development and enhancements.
- Perform electrical design activities: component selection, circuit design/simulation, prototype evaluation, unit‑level testing, lifecycle testing, system integration testing, drawing/document creation and modification, and execution of engineering change orders within SAP for hardware, firmware, and embedded software.
- Continuously improve quality by addressing manufacturing and field non‑conformities through troubleshooting and root cause analysis using electrical test equipment and custom test sets.
- Strong electrical design skills with schematic and engineering analysis capabilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills; maintain thorough engineering documentation for medical devices and communicate effectively across levels.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills to collaborate with mechanical, software, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and service teams.
- Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented, delivering high‑quality results on schedule.
- Knowledge of electronic assembly fabrication and manufacturing processes; experience collaborating with contract manufacturers for NPI.
- Understanding of design for manufacturing, serviceability, and reliability best practices.
- Familiarity with electronic product development in a regulated environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience designing and manufacturing custom electrical assemblies; medical device experience is a plus.
- Proven track record contributing to multiple products, projects, and processes from concept to production.
- Develop electrical components and conduct testing.
- Identify and select components, materials, parts, and semi‑products for system design.
- Create electrical models and tolerance analyses to simulate design concepts.
- Calculate and create final layouts with complete documentation and specifications.
- Maintain technical product files and propose process improvements.
- Upgrade designs of existing devices by adding electrical elements.
- Adapt products and solutions to meet localization requirements.
- Integrate performance, cost, and risk into design choices, supporting engineering decisions and documentation.
