What to Expect

The Commercial Service Subcontracting Senior Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting the growth of Tesla's Energy Service Program, overseeing operations programs for subcontracted field service activities across utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Balance of Plant (BoP) infrastructure. This position will manage subcontracted Corrective Maintenance (CM) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) BoP program for Utility and C&I energy sites in North America and Latin America.

The Sr. Operations Manager will collaborate closely with subcontractors, Field Service, Engineering, and Asset Management teams to ensure all subcontracted scopes are executed safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate combines hands-on electrical expertise with operational leadership skills.

What You'll Do

* Oversee subcontracted medium-voltage corrective maintenance (CM) activities, ensuring safe, compliant, cost efficient, and timely response across all Commercial and Industrial (C&I) and Utility sites in North America and Latin America

* Manage the Preventative Maintenance (PM) BoP program, including transformer inspections, oil testing, switch gear service, and related grid tied equipment maintenance

* Develop and enforce technical standards and work procedures for subcontractors performing MV electrical and transformer maintenance, ensuring adherence to Tesla and utility requirements

* Collaborate with internal engineering, field service, training, and asset management teams to prioritize maintenance activities and align solutions

* Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and scope of work development with Electrical Engineering

* Monitor subcontractor performance and safety metrics, providing feedback and coaching to maintain accountability, quality, and compliance with Tesla standards

* Serve as a technical advisor and escalation point for field teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders regarding MV systems, BoP equipment, and corrective maintenance best practices

What You'll Bring

* Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master required; MV qualification strongly preferred) or Degree in Electrical Engineering with relatable background, or equivalent experience

* 5+ years of experience working in electrical operations, maintenance, or field engineering, with a focus on grid tied systems

* Proven experience managing medium-voltage electrical systems (1kV +) and transformer or switch gear maintenance

* Strong understanding of BESS, PV, and substation electrical systems, including one-lines, relays, and switching protocols

* Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors or field teams performing complex electrical work under utility safety and compliance standards

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, work management systems (Salesforce, Service Now, or equivalent), and technical documentation tools needed for communicated to other internal departments;

* Highly motivated and proactive, capable of working independently and driving operational excellence
