Hill International is seeking a Mechanical Inspector in Austin, Texas

Hill International is seeking a Mechanical Inspector with HVAC, Mechanical Equipment, Hydronic Piping, Automation and Energy Systems experience across multiple disciplines to support ongoing infrastructure improvements se roles are critical to ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with contract documents and applicable codes. Inspectors will be responsible for field verification, documentation, and coordination with contractors and stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle.

  • Conduct field inspections to verify conformance with approved contract documents and applicable codes
  • Review contractor work for compliance with specifications, manufacturer instructions, and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate daily activities with third-party inspectors and project stakeholders, including ABIA Operations, Environmental teams, City inspectors, and AUS personnel
  • Document deficiencies and communicate findings to the Contractor, Construction Manager and CDS inspectors in a timely manner
  • Support Construction Managers in verifying installed quantities for Pay Applications
  • Maintain accurate daily inspection reports detailing work reviewed and observations made
  • Participate in change management processes and assist in schedule evaluations
  • Navigate and utilize project documentation including design drawings, specifications, Design Standards Manual, and contract terms
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Inspectors
  • Ability to work in multiple projects simultaneously
  • Occasional night-time work may be required based on project demands
  • Verify installation, operation, and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems to ensure compliance with codes and specifications
  • Examine mechanical drawings and project documents to confirm adherence to design standards and regulatory requirements
  • Perform on-site inspections, pressure tests, and functional checks on mechanical components and systems
  • Record inspection results, note deficiencies, and provide detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions
  • Monitor work to ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality assurance protocols
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Demonstrated aviation-related construction experience, including work on taxiways, runways, terminals, and underground utilities
  • Ability to pass a TSA criminal history background check
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental codes and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IMC, IPC, SMACNA, IBC, IEEE)
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate with third-party inspection reports
  • Strong understanding of contract documents, technical specifications, and design standards
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be willing to relocate to Austin, TX
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, SharePoint and Primavera P6
