Position Scope and Organizational Impact

Moss' Solar Electrical Field Project Engineers assist the Electrical Assistant and Electrical Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of large utility‑scale solar projects. They supervise all activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling, and maintain a positive attitude while interacting with staff at all levels.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsibilities can be broken down into four main categories:
    Crew Management, Reporting, Tool Connex, Material Acquisition (material, procurement, inventory, logistics).
  • Coordinate project start‑up, including reviewing the owner contract, developing a startup checklist and site utilization plan, coordinating mobilization, assisting with subcontractor and vendor selection, identifying critical issues and milestones, finalizing Prolog setup, developing the construction schedule, and leading subcontractor project orientation.
  • Expedite materials: develop a submittal log, schedule fabrications and deliveries, confirm material deliveries, conduct submittal and SD review processes, review coordination drawings, monitor off‑site materials, coordinate owner‑furnished materials, and verify fabrication status.
  • Coordinate construction activities: strategize with the Superintendent, conduct subcontractor pre‑construction meetings, track activity logs, update schedules, conduct quality‑control inspections, verify field installations, enforce safety procedures and policies, manage material storage, participate in daily superintendent and job‑site meetings, visit the project team, coordinate with user groups, and assist with agency inspections.
  • Facilitate project administration: expedite subcontractor and vendor agreements, assist with insurance and bond agreements, prepare meeting agendas and minutes, manage the check‑hold list, maintain job‑site files, process progress photos, prepare project‑status reports, coordinate with project staff, maintain Prolog, generate correspondence, administer the RFI process, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Track project costs: process subcontractor and vendor pay requests, track owner payments, record subcontractor back charges, and update labor cost reports.
  • Support management for change‑order process: create change requests, review scope changes, assess schedule impacts, issue owner notifications, expedite subcontractor and vendor pricing, prepare cost proposals, and negotiate proposal costs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Six months to one year of experience as a solar internship or full‑time project engineer or assistant project engineer in the construction industry.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project‑management applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interface directly with owners’ representatives, the A/E team, building departments and other team members.
  • Basic finance skills.
