Mechanical Design Consultant for Large Format 3D Printer Motion System

We seek assistance of a Mechanical Design Consultant. This is an in-person contract position at Creative 3D Technologies (C3DT), located in Austin, Texas.

• Motion System Design Experience
  :
  Expertise in linear motion systems for 3D printers, including belt‑driven or screw‑driven gantries, rail guides (e.g., Hiwin), and calibration for IDEX dual‑toolhead synchronization.
• IDEX Printer Mechanics
  :
  Direct work on Independent Dual Extruder printers, addressing frame rigidity, vibration damping, and toolhead alignment in large‑format builds.
• Klipper Integration Knowledge
  :
  Familiarity with Klipper’s kinematics models, input shaping, and pressure advance tuning for mechanical precision.
• Mechanical Analysis Skills
  :
  Proficiency in FEA for stress/strain, tolerance analysis, and material selection for high‑duty cycles.
• 3D Printing Mechanical Specialization
  : 5+ years in additive manufacturing, focusing on large‑format printer mechanics and failure modes like belt stretch or axis binding.
• CAD and Simulation Tools
  :
  Advanced skills in Solid Works, Fusion 360, or Onshape; experience with ANSYS or similar for motion studies.
• Relevant Certifications or Education
  :
  Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics; certifications in precision engineering (e.g., GD&T).
• Consulting/Industry Experience
  :
  History of audits for 3D printer manufacturers, delivering reports on uptime or redesigns.
• Availability and Soft Skills
  :
  On‑site capability; ability to collaborate with electronics teams and provide actionable recommendations.
