Telecom Systems Engineer (Electronics) – Jacobs
Design the Networks That Power Innovation – as a Telecom Systems Engineer you will create communication systems that keep technology moving forward, working on projects ranging from semiconductor manufacturing to state‑of‑the‑art research facilities.
Responsibilities- Design and document telecommunications systems for advanced facilities, including Outside Plant (OSP), backbone distribution systems, communication room layouts, rack elevations, wired and wireless device plans, and cable schedules.
- Use Revit (and occasionally AutoCAD) to create fully coordinated 3D BIM models across all design disciplines.
- Produce 2D construction drawings and ensure designs meet NEC, TIA and other industry standards.
- Collaborate with designers, discipline leads, architects and engineers to deliver accurate, constructible solutions.
- Gain opportunities to lead portions of design work with oversight, expanding technical and leadership skills.
- Experience in telecommunications system design for complex facilities.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD and BIM workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Two‑year technical degree or four‑year non‑technical degree.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction.
- Knowledge and application of BICSI design practices.
- Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and TIA standards.
- Experience leading telecommunications design team.
- Knowledge of design and construction specifications.
- Experience estimating and scheduling small to medium projects.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 3 years of telecommunications design experience for semiconductor, data‑center or advanced manufacturing facilities.
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks.
- Knowledge of paging, intercom and audiovisual systems.
- Knowledge of life‑safety and security systems.
- Knowledge of control systems and network topology.
- Certifications:
RCDD, DCDC, OSP, or RTPM.
$69,500.00 / yr – $ / yr (location‑based adjustments). Total compensation may include merit increases, performance discretionary bonus and stock options.
