A well-funded, fast-growing advanced energy company is developing a new generation of modular nuclear reactors designed for rapid deployment, scalability, and real-world impact. This organization is moving beyond concept-stage designs and actively engineering systems intended for deployment this decade.
They are seeking a Senior Nuclear Engineer to serve as a key technical contributor and analytical leader within the reactor design team. This role sits at the intersection of deep technical rigor and fast-paced innovation, where your work will directly influence reactor design, safety case development, and licensing strategy.
This is an opportunity for engineers who want to move beyond incremental work and help shape next-generation nuclear technology from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and perform thermal-hydraulic and neutronics analyses for reactor systems
- Develop, maintain, and validate detailed reactor and accident scenario models
- Independently review and approve engineering calculations and safety analyses
- Support preparation of design basis documents and licensing submittals
- Participate in technical reviews and regulatory interactions as a subject-matter expert
- Mentor junior engineers and elevate analytical best practices across the team
- Identify analytical gaps, propose improvements, and contribute to continuous design optimization
- Adapt to evolving design, regulatory, and project needs in a dynamic environment
- BS or MS in Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline
- ~7+ years of experience in nuclear systems analysis, safety analysis, or reactor physics
- Hands-on experience with at least two of the following:
- TRACE, MELCOR, MCNP, VERA, SCALE, SERPENT
- Demonstrated experience performing and reviewing complex engineering analyses
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
- DOE or nuclear regulatory experience preferred
- Comfortable taking ownership of high-impact technical decisions
- Motivated by building deployable reactor technology, not just theoretical design
- Thrives in a fast-moving, low-bureaucracy environment
- Interested in advanced reactors and the future of nuclear energy
