Job Description & How to Apply Below
Omega Contractors is hiring an Electrical Estimator with a strong background in industrial electrical construction and some commercial estimating experience. This role independently develops accurate, defensible estimates and supports bid strategy, scope clarification, and handoff to operations. Proficiency using 3D building models to validate scope and support quantity development is required.
What You’ll Do- Independently prepare estimates for industrial electrical projects (new installs, expansions, retrofits, shutdowns/turnarounds).
- Support commercial electrical estimates as needed (tenant improvements, lighting/power, service/distribution upgrades).
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and labor hour development; produce clear inclusions/exclusions, assumptions, alternates, and clarifications.
- Use and interpret 3D models to validate quantities, confirm routing/equipment placement, identify conflicts, and improve constructability.
- Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor/subcontractor pricing to ensure complete scope coverage and compliance with requirements.
- Participate in internal estimate reviews; provide a strong basis-of-estimate and support a clean transition to project execution teams.
- 3–7 years electrical estimating experience with a heavy industrial emphasis.
- Demonstrated experience estimating electrical systems including distribution equipment, conduit/raceway, cable tray, wire/cable, terminations, grounding/bonding, and equipment connections.
- Working experience leveraging 3D building modeling for takeoffs and coordination (model navigation, scope verification, and clash/constraint awareness).
- Strong written communication skills (RFIs/clarifications) and ability to produce traceable estimate documentation.
- Proficiency with Excel and disciplined estimating workflows (training provided on Omega Contractors’ estimating platform).
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment and attend site walkdowns/pre-bid meetings as needed.
- Owns complete estimates for small-to-mid projects and/or defined work packages on larger bids with minimal oversight.
- Uses 3D models effectively to improve accuracy, identify conflicts, and support constructability discussions.
- Manages vendor coverage, evaluates quote scope alignment, and communicates gaps clearly.
- Presents estimates professionally in review settings and supports bid strategy with data and sound judgment.
- Industrial estimating complexity (shutdowns, constrained access, owner standards)
- Model-based estimating competency (accuracy and coordination effectiveness)
- Scope clarity and risk recognition (RFIs, exclusions, defensible assumptions)
- Independence and reliability under bid deadlines
Submit your resume with a brief summary of:
- Your industrial estimating scope (types of facilities/projects)
- How you’ve used 3D models to support takeoffs, coordination, or constructability
