CAD Technician

Overview

Compensation: $ 33 - 35 /hour, depending on experience

Location: Austin, Texas

Join a dynamic team at a thriving company, where you'll be instrumental in supporting natural gas utility engineering and design. This opportunity offers the chance to work on-site at the Austin Service Center, transforming engineer markups and survey data into precise, buildable designs. With a focus on quality, compliance, and collaboration, this role is crucial to ensuring that all drawings meet company standards and regulatory requirements.

This position is open due to expansion, offering a unique chance to be part of a growing team dedicated to excellence.

• Create and manage natural gas utility design drawings
• Import and format developer-provided civil CAD files
• Incorporate survey points and GIS information into design models
• Generate utility profiles and clearance checks
• Apply company CAD standards and QA/QC policies
• Organize project files and maintain version control
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers
• Ensure drawings meet municipal and DOT permitting requirements
• Assist in maintaining CAD blocks and standard detail libraries

• Associate’s Degree, technical diploma, or certificate in CAD
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans and utility drawings
• Working knowledge of underground utility design
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Experience drafting for gas utilities or civil engineering firms
• Familiarity with public ROW utility standards
• Experience supporting land development projects
• Knowledge of construction methods used in natural gas systems
• Valid driver’s license
