This position within HID Global reports into the Global Hardware Platforms team and is necessary to meet the sales growth of HID Global products worldwide and the increasing demands of global certifications. We seek a skilled and experienced Global Product Certification Engineer with in-depth understanding of obtaining global certifications (LVD, EMC, RED, RoHS, REACH) for new and existing IoT type products (RFID readers, access controllers, asset tracking devices).

As a Global Product Certification Engineer, you will support HID’s success by:

  • Liaising with engineering teams to advise on appropriate tests and regulatory standards needed to achieve the required product certifications for the target market, including specification of special operating modes.
  • Organizing, staging and performing the required tests either in‑house or at an external test facility as appropriate.
  • Generating internal test reports and working with engineering teams to overcome potential problems discovered.
  • Obtaining and reviewing external test reports and advising engineering teams accordingly.
  • Compiling technical files, testing reports and other documentation for certification submissions.
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of any changes to relevant regulatory standards and advising engineering teams appropriately.
  • Supporting the development of new regulations by joining and contributing to industry standard organizations (e.g.: FiRa Consortium).

Your Experience and Background include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years of industry experience with a minimum of 3 years in regulatory & compliance.
  • Experience with lab test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, etc.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as Lab View, Matlab or Python is an advantage.
  • The ability to effectively work and communicate in a globally distributed, multidisciplinary team including engineers, product marketing, sales, as well as customers.
  • Previous experience within the Radio Equipment and Low Voltage Directives.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards including:
    • FCC Parts 2 & 15, China, Korea, Mexico, Malaysia, Taiwan, UL 294.
    • ETSI Radio Standards, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, India Radio & Safety, EN 62368.
  • Experience with project management and agile development principles (e.g.: SAFe).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

The wage range for this role considers a broad scope of factors: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At HID, typical compensation does not start at the top of the range. The disclosed range estimate is independent of any geographic differential. Base salary in the United States is $105,000 to $115,000.
