Role:
Electrical Silicon Failure Analysis Engineer

Location:

Austin, TX (5x/ week onsite)

Duration: 6 months

Key Responsibilities Failure Analysis Execution
  • Perform day-to-day device-level and system-level failure analysis (FA).
  • Conduct electrical fault isolation using multiple FA tools and techniques.
  • Perform silicon-level and board-level fault isolation and debugging.
  • Analyze IC devices and module-level failures.
Technical Reporting & Documentation
  • Produce detailed technical reports documenting failure analysis findings.
  • Communicate findings clearly to engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide root cause analysis with corrective action recommendations.
Equipment & Process Support
  • Evaluate, maintain, and improve FA equipment and methodologies.
  • Support the introduction of new failure analysis tools and techniques.
  • Ensure proper sample preparation and lab best practices.
Required

Skills & Qualifications Education & Experience
  • BSEE with 5+ years of experience
OR
  • Equivalent degree in Engineering or Physics with proven track record in IC and module-level failure analysis.
Technical Expertise
  • Hands-on proficiency in:
  • Physical Failure Analysis (PFA)
  • Electrical Failure Analysis (EFA) at silicon level
  • Strong experience in board-level failure analysis.
  • Proven experience performing failure analysis on IC devices.
Tool Experience (Hands-On Required)

Experience working with the following FA tools and techniques:

  • LIT (Lock-in Thermography)
  • TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry)
  • FIB (Focused Ion Beam)
  • RIE (Reactive Ion Etching)
  • CMP (Chemical Mechanical Planarization)
  • MIP
  • Emission Microscopy
  • Laser Scan Microscopy
  • Micro-probing
  • Nano-probing
Preferred

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using multiple FA tools and techniques across different failure scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
