Summary

The Manufacturing Design team enables the mass production of Apple's entire product line from iPhones, iPads, and Mac Books to the Mac Pro, Apple

TV and Apple Watch. Part of the magic that makes all of this possible is a robust set of applications and systems designed and developed by Apple that support the production of a product from prototype to announcement and beyond.

The applications we build are used daily by the people at Apple that design our products along with those that figure out how to make them s includes Manufacturing Design Engineers, Product Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Quality Engineers, Supply Chain Managers, along with our Suppliers. We work closely with them to design and architect the best solutions for the challenges faced when making the highest quality hardware products.

We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager with experience in Product as well to lead a team responsible for a critical manufacturing system ’ll work closely with the Tech Lead to balance shipping features with addressing technical debt.

Our team is responsible for building an application that enables Apple to manufacture every product. You should be good at anticipating, but not over-architecting your solutions. You are able to articulate clear and simple solutions for complex problems. Once a year, you’ll be expected to travel to Shanghai to meet with our in-region counterparts and end users.

• Define long-term vision and roadmap for the product with the head of organization
• Participate in technical and design discussions with leads of the team
• Plan and scope features alongside Product Designer, Developers, and other stakeholders
• Own development process with dev tech lead (sprints, standups, retros, planning, etc.)
• Collaborate with stakeholders in Manufacturing, Product Design (hardware), Ops, and the Supply Chain to provide the right solutions for our teams

• 10+ years working in a technical role on a software team
• 5+ years in a technical (engineering) lead or management role of a team focused on web application
• Experience leading product from idea to shipping
• Experience building and managing technical teams across the full stack; API, UI, Dev Ops, Infra, etc.

• Experience with React.js, Node.js, Docker, and Postgre
  
  SQL is a plus
• Manufacturing experience or exposure is a plus, but not required
