Job Description & How to Apply Below

If you have personally architected and released complex electro-mechanical products — and can defend your design decisions in a live review — we want to talk.

We are partnering with a tech-forward, innovation-driven manufacturing company seeking a highly hands-on Principal Engineer to lead next-generation product development.

This role is anchored in New Product Development (NPD). It is not a program management or launch coordination role. We are looking for a technical leader who can personally own architecture decisions, challenge designs at a detailed level, and drive products from concept through validation, design freeze, and production release.

Approximately 80% of this role is true hands-on NPD.

What You’ll Do
  • Own mechanical, electrical, and firmware architecture decisions for new products
  • Perform hands-on CAD modeling, detailed drawings, schematics, and BOM ownership
  • Drive prototyping, testing, validation, and disciplined design freeze
  • Own engineering change releases (ECR/ECO)
  • Apply strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure production readiness
  • Review tolerances, extrusion geometry, motor specifications, and system integration details
  • Engage with customers to translate feedback into next-generation product innovation

This role will directly shape the next generation of core product platforms.

What We’re Looking For
  • 10+ years of hands-on electro-mechanical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ownership of New Product Development (NPD) from concept through design freeze and production release
  • Deep expertise in both mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Experience integrating firmware and control systems
  • High proficiency in CAD tools (Solid Works or similar), including BOM management and revision control
  • Experience developing formal test plans and producing validation reports
  • Experience operating in lean, fast-moving manufacturing environments

This is a high-impact technical role for someone who wants to build, influence product direction, and personally drive innovation.

Location Requirement: Only candidates currently residing in the greater Austin, Texas area will be considered at this time.

Direct applicants only. No agency partnerships or fee splits for this search.
