Engineering Associate II - Civil Engineering (Hybrid)

You will be trusted to:

  • Perform hydrological and hydraulic analysis for 138kV and 345kV substation civil designs.
  • Determine drainage facilities to convey or detain onsite runoffs under design storm events.
  • Support site development permitting process with local jurisdiction.
  • Perform project scoping engineering analysis and coordinate with interested parties to develop scope with estimates to be presented to senior management.
  • Plan and conduct engineering projects involving independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Schedule and/or coordinate detailed phases of engineering work as part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope.
  • Conduct moderately sophisticated engineering studies; perform field analysis, performance tests, compose cost estimates, lay out drafting work, and correlate and compile data.
  • Coordinate work with engineers, technicians, craft workers or others.
  • Prepare and revise operating procedures and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments; apply appropriate business procedures and project‑management techniques.
  • Prepare technical specifications for project services, equipment, and materials where few precedents exist; complete related computations and draft schematics and diagrams.
  • Coordinate project evaluations and practice timely communication to ensure deliverables.
  • Maintain knowledge of engineering principles, technical developments, industry codes, and safety and regulatory requirements that impact the field; fully develop knowledge of LCRA procedures, equipment, and systems.
  • Perform economic evaluations of programs and projects and render judgment on costs and benefits from a company‑wide perspective.
  • Review and evaluate bids and provide recommendations.
  • Gather engineering information by traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.).

You qualify with:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus one or more years of post‑bachelor’s engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
  • Driver’s license.

You are a great fit with:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 1+ years of previous experience in civil design, preferably residential development.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, codes, legal, and design requirements of local municipalities.
  • Intermediate level experience in all aspects of site engineering, infrastructure, drainage design, and permitting.
  • Engineering‑In‑Training license preferred.
  • AutoCAD, Civil 3D skills required.
