HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Compile, review, and validate ambient air quality data measured at air monitoring stations throughout Texas; assist in the review and identification of air quality data problems; communicate with staff, contractors, and field operators on resolving problems with ambient air data quality.
Process, verify, and prepare reports of ambient air pollutant measurements and quality control data for transfer to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and agency databases. Maintain site file information using the Texas Air Monitoring Information System (TAMIS).
Summarize and/or provide air quality data and related information for agency staff and/or external customers. Review and assist in the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), and other guidance/procedural documentation.
Key Qualifications- Experience with managing, verifying, summarizing, or reporting air pollution (or air quality) data.
- Experience with reviewing technical data for quality assurance.
- Experience with ambient air monitoring programs or equipment.
- Experience with data analysis/summary applications (e.g., Statistical Analysis Software (SAS), Excel).
- Experience with high volume data processing.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, basic science, mathematics, environmental science, computer science or a related field. One year of full-time experience in performing engineering, technical, or related assignments may be substituted for each year of the required education.
Other ConsiderationsEmployees may have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement.
Other InformationThis position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineering Specialist I series. Current employees must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineering Specialist I series.

Work ScheduleStandard business hours are M‑F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Monitoring Division.
