Job Description & How to Apply Below

Current EV Motors is at the forefront of advancing mobility through innovative, patented powertrain solutions for electric vehicles. Our mission is to revolutionize automotive re‑powering with scalable technologies like the MONOLITH direct‑drive system, which simplifies design, enhances efficiency, and enables seamless EV conversions for fleets and vintage vehicles. We focus on fleet re‑powering for commercial applications and high‑quality conversions for classic cars, prioritizing performance, safety, and future‑proofing.

Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Vehicle Conversion Engineer with strong expertise in electrical engineering to own both electrical and mechanical responsibilities for our EV powertrain development. This hands‑on role is critical for advancing our patented MONOLITH direct‑drive systems and conversion kits. The ideal candidate has direct experience in EV conversions and is passionate about integrating designs into real vehicles—from prototypes to fleet and vintage applications.

This is an initial contract position with a clear path to full‑time employment upon achieving defined performance milestones (discussed during interviews). For outstanding candidates, we are open to offering company ownership equity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Electrical Engineering: Design, develop, and optimize electrical systems, including motors, controllers, inverters, power electronics, battery management systems (BMS), wiring harnesses, and high‑voltage architectures for EV powertrains.
  • Own Mechanical Engineering: Handle mechanical design aspects, such as e‑axles, mounting brackets, drive units, transfer cases, and structural integrations compatible with our direct‑drive technology.
  • Hands‑On Vehicle Integration: Actively build, assemble, wire, and integrate components into vehicles; troubleshoot issues during conversions; and validate performance through real‑world testing and road trials.
  • EV Conversion Leadership: Drive end‑to‑end projects for fleet re‑powering (e.g., school buses, trucks) and vintage/classic vehicle conversions, ensuring kits are bolt‑on, scalable, and exceed stock performance.
  • Innovation and Testing: Contribute to patent advancements, conduct simulations, rigorous testing, and validations to meet efficiency, safety, durability, and regulatory standards (e.g., SAE, ISO).
  • Team

    Collaboration:

Provide technical leadership in our small, dynamic team, aligning engineering with business goals in a fast‑paced startup environment.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience). 5+ years in EV or automotive engineering, with strong emphasis on electrical systems (power electronics, motor control, BMS, high‑voltage safety).
  • EV Conversion Expertise: Preferred:
Proven experience with EV conversions or re‑powering projects (fleet, vintage, or custom builds), including direct‑drive or similar architectures.
  • Technical

    Skills:

Proficiency in electrical design tools (e.g., Altium, MATLAB/Simulink) and mechanical CAD (e.g., Autodesk Fusion, Solid Works); experience with EV components like inverters, controllers, and battery packs; hands‑on prototyping and fabrication.
  • Hands‑On Requirement: Comfortable and experienced in workshop environments—wiring, assembly, integration, and on‑vehicle testing. Familiarity with automotive mechanics is critical, along with a willingness to perform repair‑related tasks as needed.
  • Soft Skills: Independent problem‑solver with excellent communication; thrives in a fast paced environment; possesses an urgency to perform and complete tasks.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with patented EV technologies, commercial fleet applications, or classic car restorations.
What We Offer
  • Competitive contract rates with performance‑based full‑time transition.
  • Equity opportunities for top performers.
  • Direct impact on groundbreaking EV conversion technology in a supportive, innovative team.
  • Flexible work environment focused on innovation and results.
