Water Resources Civil Engineer Role Description
Huitt‑Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Water Resources Civil Engineer (Eng IV) with 5-10 years of experience in our Austin location. Preference is a licensed engineer in the state of Texas. Experience in the Austin area is desired. The role will include providing oversight of a diverse range of stormwater projects in addition to managing project budgets and business development.
The position will include working collaboratively in a team environment providing engineering analysis and design for public works infrastructure, urban development, and transportation projects.

Duties- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater management, floodplain mapping, and drainage analysis and design
- Utilize software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, Micro Station ORD-DU, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS for design and analysis
- Conduct quality reviews on H&H work to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance
- Develop scopes of work, fee estimates, and proposals for H&H projects and tasks
- Support client engagement, permitting, and regulatory compliance with FEMA, TxDOT, and local agencies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers
- Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
- Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
- Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
- Cultivates relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients.
- Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
- Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
- Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
- Actively engages and participates in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
- Sharing Information: Conveying up-to date information in the most efficient and useful manner to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Critical Thinking: Analyzing problems and solutions by evaluating the quality of the information available from different sources and avoiding decision-making bias.

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas
- 5-10 years of civil engineering design experience
- Strong technical skills in a wide range of hydrologic & hydraulic analyses
- Utilize software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, Micro Station ORD-DU, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and GIS for design and analysis
- Ability to mentor staff in the preparation of civil engineering documents and specifications
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to write clearly to communicate technical issues and design ideas
