This is an exciting opportunity for a highly innovative power semiconductor engineer or solid-state physicist to take a pioneering role in the development and commercialization of cutting-edge semiconductor technologies. This position is well-suited for a forward-thinking, hands-on engineer who excels in a dynamic environment and aims to make a significant technical contribution to the power semiconductor industry.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will play a key role in product design, optimization, fabrication, testing, manufacturing scale-up, and long-term technology strategy for a novel low-loss, bidirectional power semiconductor architecture.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with external wafer fabricators to assess and implement process enhancements
- Lead device design improvements informed by simulations and device testing
- Conduct semiconductor simulations using standard tools like Silvaco or Synopsys TCAD
- Oversee mask layouts and ensure adherence to design best practices
- Manage semiconductor fabrication projects from prototyping to volume production
- Coordinate development lot processing including split plans and trial routes
- Perform or manage electrical characterization of test structures
- Conduct physical analysis of device and functional test results
- Analyze data to refine and optimize device design
- Address performance, manufacturing, testing, and reliability challenges and opportunities
- Use foundry and probe data to enhance wafer yield and device performance
- Contribute to strategic planning for technology and product roadmaps
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Solid-State Physics
- 5–10 years’ experience in power semiconductor technology development
- In-depth knowledge of power semiconductor topologies, including MOSFETs, IGBTs, and BJTs
- Strong understanding of silicon and silicon carbide device physics and manufacturing processes
- Proven ability to perform the key responsibilities listed above
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills >
- Familiarity with power device packaging and manufacturability best practices
- Experience analyzing foundry and probe data for yield improvement (JMP knowledge is a plus)
- General knowledge of semiconductor markets such as EVs, industrial drives, renewable energy, and UPS systems is advantageous
- Understanding of power conversion topologies such as buck, boost, and inverter circuits is a plus
Practical experience with wafer fabrication techniques and semiconductor characterization
