Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled senior electrical designer with strong expertise in schematic design, electrical simulation, PCB design, and firmware development in C++. The ideal candidate will develop high‑performance electrical systems that integrate seamlessly with electromechanical components, ensuring our products meet rigorous military‑grade requirements.
What You’ll Do- Design and develop detailed electrical schematics and PCB layouts for autonomous turret systems.
- Implement real‑time embedded software in C++ and Python, focusing on responsiveness and efficiency.
- Perform simulations for signal integrity, thermal management, and EMC.
- Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate electrical and mechanical components.
- Lead PCB development, adhering to best practices in layout, power distribution, and EMI compliance.
- Document designs with schematics, layouts, simulation results, and test protocols.
- Test and debug embedded systems in laboratory and field environments.
- Optimize code performance and reduce power consumption on hardware‑constrained platforms.
- 9+ years of experience in electrical and firmware design, including schematic, software, simulation, and PCB layout.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Expertise with microcontroller‑based control systems, power conversion, and motor drive.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle, or similar PCB tools.
- Experience with simulation software such as SPICE or ANSYS Electronics.
- Background in integrating electrical components with mechanical systems.
- Hands‑on testing experience for designs that meet military standards.
- 5+ years of embedded software development for real‑time, safety‑critical systems.
- Extensive experience in C++ for embedded systems; proficiency in Python for scripting.
- Experience designing and deploying software for robotics applications with real‑time control.
- Ability to integrate software with sensors, actuators, and control hardware in autonomous systems.
- Knowledge of thermal management techniques for high‑power systems.
- Embedded Linux and RTOS experience, including custom kernels.
- Networking protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, UART, I2C.
- Skill in optimizing code for low‑latency, high‑performance applications.
- ACS equity package.
- Paid time off.
This position requires onsite work at our Austin, TX office. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Austin if not currently residing there.
