As part of TCEQ’s Office of Water, you would contribute to ensuring clean and available water and protecting Texas’ water resources. See details about what we do.
This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.
ResponsibilitiesComplete technical and engineering work related to implementation of state and federal drinking water regulations for the Plan & Technical Review section in the Water Supply Division.
Conduct in office and/or on-site engineering and technical reviews, analyses, quality control and evaluations of routine to moderately complex information from internal and external customers to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures; and follows up with appropriate actions.
Provide information and engineering assistance concerning requests and submittals from public water systems to internal and external customers through verbal communication, email, correspondence, meetings, on‑site assistance, and presentations.
Participate in special projects, such as serving as an owner of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working on Section/Division business process improvement projects.
Qualifications- Texas Professional Engineer’s license.
- Texas Professional Engineer’s license plus one year of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.
- Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
- OR one year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer I.
- Texas Professional Engineer’s license plus two years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.
- Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
- One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.
- Texas Professional Engineer’s license plus three years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.
- Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
- One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer III.
- Texas Professional Engineer’s license plus four years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure.
- Qualifying work experience includes that obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
- One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer IV.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Current TCEQ EmployeesThis position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer I-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer I-V series.
Work ScheduleStandard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
