This position is a member of our Water Quality Division.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Prepare routine TCEQ and/or TPDES draft industrial wastewater individual/general permits and/or authorizations in accordance with state and federal rules, policies, and guidelines, primarily for minor facilities and renewal applications. Conduct engineering calculations and analysis during permit application review.
  • Participate in routine engineering and other special projects, including preparing correspondence; preparing authorization to construct requests; reviewing permit cancellation requests; reviewing Superfund and Voluntary Cleanup program wastewater discharge/disposal requests; attending pre-application and other meetings.
  • Provide expertise concerning industrial wastewater permits and the industrial wastewater permitting process to agency staff, the public and the regulated community, attend meetings and respond to telephone calls and letters received by the program.
  • Respond to comments on draft industrial wastewater permits, prepare responses to comments documents, and revise permits, and other documents as needed.
  • Provide expertise in the resolution of contested industrial wastewater permit applications, assist senior staff or the team leader in alternative dispute resolutions (ADRs), attend public meetings, and provide expert testimony at public hearings before an Administrative Law Judge or the Commission.
Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Texas Professional Engineer's license.
  • Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer I state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer I series.
