Pre-Construction Manager, NACF Design and Construction
Amazon opened its remote doors in 1995 and strives to be the world’s most customer‑centric company. This construction role will build and improve the physical infrastructure of Amazon’s online fulfillment business.
Key job responsibilities- Responsible for project management on new construction and additional capacity improvements within North America Fulfillment Centers, Delivery Stations, or Sort Centers.
- Support construction scope review and development with internal technical teams and operational customers to facilitate engineering and design efforts on new and remodel projects.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from relatively small renovations to large‑sized ($100M+) new facilities.
- Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analysis to define design requirements, equipment, and services for capacity expansion and remodel projects.
- Provide technical direction concerning engineering design, AutoCAD, building design, layouts, build details, schedules, and materials in accordance with NACF design parameters.
- Survey facilities, develop and document procedures to audit the facility, provide evaluations, and recommend solutions to infrastructure, safety, and security problems.
- Negotiate contracts and contract changes with developers and General Contractors, ensuring fit‑for‑purpose, cost‑effective, and service‑level agreements.
- Provide overall site management, coordination, and specification of business proposals, and coordinate subcontractors.
- Facilitate due diligence evaluation of new opportunities and assess project performance through KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability.
- Partner with teams to transition base building management and oversee turnover documentation.
- Coach and guide all project teams throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring performance meets duration and quality targets.
- Audit contractors to verify skills, competencies, and fit to undertake the work.
- Inform developers and contractors of projected changes in resource or work demand.
- Identify and resolve clashes, design misses, and schedule conflicts with other Amazon execution teams.
- Establish and operate information systems necessary for effective scheduling and recording of contract work.
- Review designs and ongoing construction for conformance to current building specifications.
- Provide critical review of current design standards to identify value engineering and design enhancement opportunities.
- Track comprehensive budget, forecast, and manage assigned expansion, remodel, and new build projects.
- Review and guide change requests for validity, impact, and timely incorporation.
- Lead or assist in negotiations with regulatory bodies and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) entities as required.
- Maintain positive, clear, concise, and transparent cross‑team communication for all aspects of project delivery.
- Be available during core working hours.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, Development Manager, Owner’s project management representative, or in other commercial development and construction related disciplines.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
- Demonstrated skill in written and oral communication to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Specific experience in construction or renovation of commercial warehouse facilities or fulfillment centers.

Base pay for this position ranges from $69,700 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,800 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
