Process Safety Engineer

The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of EHS disciplines. They will serve as discipline lead for the EHS team, interacting with many multi‑disciplinary teams (e.g., manufacturing engineering, materials development, chemical engineering, factory design, facility engineering, etc.); ensure regulatory compliance can be met in new and proposed changes to equipment and processes, facilities and designs;

perform process and facility risk assessments, and implement EHS and industry best practices. They will play a key role in the sustainable design and change managed operations. The overall charter is risk and hazard reduction and pollution prevention across all operations.

Base pay range

$50.00/hr - $70.00/hr

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA): Analyze processes to identify risks, determine likelihood and severity, and recommend safeguards.
  • Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR): Validate new processes and equipment, ensure instruments and logic work correctly, and approve safe start‑up.
  • Compliance Gap Analysis: Evaluate adherence to OSHA PSM 14 elements, identify gaps, and update documentation.
  • Model Dispersion & Facility Siting: Assess how new equipment impacts existing systems and perform dispersion modelling.
  • Work with design teams (civil, mechanical, chemical) on modifications and risk evaluations.
Must-Haves
  • Bachelors in chemical engineering (preferred) or Electrical Engineering with chemical background (
    Mechanical Engineering NOT accepted
    )
  • 5+ years in Process Safety Management within refineries, oil/gas, or chemical plants.
  • OSHA PSM standard (29 CFR ).
  • Strong understanding of PHAs, PSSRs, and risk modeling.
  • OSHA 30 Certification (preferred)
