Development Manager - Utility Scale Solar and BESS

Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Project Development Manager – Austin, Texas

Our client is seeking a renewable energy project developer to drive greenfield development and acquisitions. This role will focus on identifying, securing, and advancing utility-scale solar and BESS through all development phases. This is a hybrid position – 3 days per week in the Austin office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Secure land for utility-scale solar and BESS and establish partnerships.
  • Stay informed on local and state regulations impacting project development.
  • Lead greenfield development and acquisition efforts to bring projects to NTP/construction readiness.
  • Assess project feasibility
    , considering layout, permitting, and total installed costs.
  • Collaborate with Transmission, Real Estate, and Legal teams to resolve development challenges.
  • Negotiate land agreements, interconnection contracts, and other key development documents.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, permitting, and interconnection processes.
  • Manage multiple projects
    , ensuring steady progress across all stages.
  • Provide project updates to leadership and present to the Investment Committee.
  • Explore new software tools to optimize project development.
Qualifications &

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills in a remote, fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in renewable energy regulations, permitting, and interconnection.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work across multi‑disciplinary teams and time zones.
  • Proven track record of driving projects to completion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, energy, or related field preferred.
  • Willingness to travel.
