Job Description & How to Apply Below

Be among the first 25 applicants. This range is provided by AMD. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next‑generation computing experiences—from AI and data centers, to PC, gaming and embedded systems. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges, striving for execution excellence and fostering a culture of direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive work.

The Role

We are looking for a driven and diligent power architect to join the SOC Architecture team in the AMD Computing and Graphics group. Power architects guide SoCs from early concept stages through design execution and post‑silicon. This role involves collaboration with teams across SoC architecture definition, IP design, integration/physical design, platform architecture, software, firmware, packaging, and silicon validation.

The Person

Candidate qualities: strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving skills, excellent attention to detail, organized, self‑motivated, able to work effectively on large and small teams across multiple sites, can prioritize assignments and drive them to completion. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with internal and external partners, customers, and industry standards to define AMD power roadmap and competitive targets for bounding‑box workloads.
  • Analyze workloads to identify high‑value opportunities in IP, subsystems and SoC to increase power efficiency relative to performance/watt and battery life.
  • Recommend process/flow improvements and drive deployment across teams to achieve power bounding‑box targets.
  • Coordinate with SOC architects, IP design teams, systems engineering and product engineering to realize power features from concept through implementation, verification, firmware/software enablement, emulation and silicon attainment.
  • Lead modeling complex power use‑case scenarios across SoC roadmap, correlating power estimates with pre‑silicon model updates at each SoC maturity milestone to final tape‑out PTPX numbers, real‑life workload correlation in emulation and post‑silicon, ensuring aggressive power objectives are met.
  • Create innovative power‑reduction initiatives and drive cross‑organization alignment for implementation toward power convergence.
  • Lead modeling design of experiments for a long‑term integrated power‑performance framework.
  • Define, align, and drive power feature definitions with cross‑BU synergy.
  • Optimize PC use cases in terms of absolute power and relative performance per watt.
Preferred Experience
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor power architecture and power delivery (on‑die, substrate, silicon interposer, PCB).
  • Experience with power integrity/ signal integrity analysis, droop management/mitigation and capacitor performance.
  • Experience defining and analyzing workloads, system bottlenecks, and optimizing computing systems for performance and power efficiency.
  • Experience architecting new SoC power features and low‑power states for battery life improvement and prototyping.
  • Skilled at power evaluation, modeling, simulation and silicon attainment.
  • Co‑ownership of power feature enablement with firmware and software driver teams.
  • Able to write detailed internal and customer‑facing architecture specifications.
  • Desirable: C/C++ programming, automation & scripting languages, Excel, and software engineering concepts.
  • General familiarity with microprocessor or PC architecture.
  • Self‑driven, independent, methodical problem‑solver who collaborates across worldwide teams.
Academic Credentials
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
