What To ExpectTesla is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Equipment Engineer to contribute to the development and improvement of electrical equipment for our advanced battery cell manufacturing processes.
The Battery is one of the most complex components designed and manufactured s is an exciting opportunity to build a world-class manufacturing facility from the ground up. Tesla offers a demanding, fast-paced environment where you will work on critical subsystems of innovative products.
The Electrical Equipment Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle, working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Process teams to bring new products from initial design to full production.
What You'll Do- Startup, validation, and design improvement of electrical systems and ensuring their reliability
- Establish electrical safety standards and LOTO procedures
- Troubleshoot and support electrical equipment such as motors, AC drives, PLCs, and power distribution systems
- Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis on electrical failures and implement countermeasures
- Lead safety and ergonomic improvements for electrical equipment, managing hazardous energy isolation techniques
- Design and implement equipment improvements, collaborate with vendors for installation and modifications
- Work with Controls Engineers to troubleshoot and enhance processes via PLC, HMI, and software tools
- Create detailed maintenance instructions for complex repairs
- Develop preventive maintenance procedures and optimize spares inventory to maximize equipment OEE
- Manage continuous improvement projects based on key performance metrics like OEE, MTTR, MTBF
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or 15+ years of equivalent work experience
- Hands-on experience with motors, drives, electromechanical systems, and automation in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in ramping electrical equipment into production, including automation and motion controls
- Ability to develop and validate operating and maintenance instructions
- Proficiency in designing electrical layouts and schematics for factory settings
