Responsibilities
  • Produce contract documents including plans and specifications
  • Perform heating/cooling and system sizing calculations
  • Develop Process and Control schematics
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications
  • Develop Control descriptions
  • Mentor and train entry-level mechanical engineers
  • Prepare construction and design cost estimates
  • Manage mechanical HVAC and odor control portions of projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Interface with clients and project management teams
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline project teams
  • Prepare technical memorandums and reports
  • Work as part of the project team to complete complex tasks
  • Develop mechanical design and analysis approaches with experienced engineers
  • Follow through design approaches to completion
  • Identify discrepancies or inconsistencies in results
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to standards in calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Enhance technical knowledge and skills
  • Refine standards and approaches for specific projects
  • Maintain professionalism with team members
  • Plan work to sequence tasks effectively
  • Review work for correctness
  • Monitor scope, schedule, and budget
  • Implement company and client standards
  • Control work scope for small or elements of larger projects
  • Manage conflicts to keep projects on track
  • Travel as required and make site visits during construction and operation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 6-12 years experience with HVAC, odor control, fire detection, and water systems for treatment facilities
  • PE registration
  • Proficiency in mechanical system design for water/wastewater facilities
  • Knowledge of energy codes and NFPA 820
  • Design knowledge of HVAC and odor control systems
  • Understanding of hazardous/classified areas
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs and control strategies
  • Ability to work with multi-discipline teams
  • Self-motivated and independent worker
  • Strong communication skills
  • Public speaking comfort
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
