Aqua-Metric is seeking an experienced AMI Electric Meter Technician to support utility customers in the configuration, testing, and maintenance of Sensus Flex Net AMI systems. This role is vital to ensuring accurate energy usage data transmission and the continued reliability of our customers’ AMI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, program, and troubleshoot Sensus AMI electric meters (residential, commercial, industrial)
  • Define meter programming and maintain smart meters and network devices (e.g., base stations, collectors, network backhaul)
  • Utilize Sensus Flex Net, Stratus IQ+ meters, and Sensus Field Tools software
  • Monitor AMI network performance and resolve communication or data-related issues
  • Perform both remote and onsite diagnostics to resolve meter and system errors
  • Collaborate with utility metering teams and IT departments for seamless device-to-system integration
  • Troubleshoot communication failures within AMI infrastructure
  • Assist in firmware updates, meter upgrades, and network expansions
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, utility, and cybersecurity standards
  • Follow strict safety procedures when working near energized equipment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Electrical, Electronics, or related field)
  • High School Diploma or Associate Degree with technical electrical training acceptable
  • 2+ years of experience in electric metering with a focus on AMI or smart grid systems
  • Familiarity with Sensus, Itron, Landis+Gyr, Silver Spring Networks, or similar AMI platforms
  • Understanding of AMI networks, cellular communication, and data protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Strong computer skills and experience with meter reading/management software
  • Basic knowledge of SCADA systems and GIS mapping tools
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Self‑motivated with strong problem‑solving and time‑management skills
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Capable of climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Proficient with safe use of hand and power tools
Preferred (Not Required)
  • AMI system‑specific training or certifications
  • Technical certification in electrical systems or metering
