Description

The Department of Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin seeks a leading scholar in Child and Adolescent Health for the position of Priscilla Pond Flawn Regents Professor of Child Development to begin August 2026. We are especially interested in candidates who use interdisciplinary methods to study the biopsychosocial processes that influence health and well-being with respect to risk, resilience and/or protection.

We are an interdisciplinary program focusing on individual, relationship, and family development within varying ecological contexts. Faculty research interests include child and adolescent development, parent-child relationships, romantic relationships, aging, health and health behaviors, culture, poverty, intervention, and public policy. We have a vital program with approximately 350 undergraduate majors, 35 doctoral students, and 19 faculty operating in a collegial and supportive environment.

The position includes access to funds from an endowment for scholarly support.

Qualifications

Applicants should have: A Ph.D. in human development, family studies, psychology, sociology, economics, public policy, or a related social science; an established program of research and nationally recognized expertise in the field of child and adolescent development and health; a strong record of publication and external funding; and evidence of outstanding graduate and undergraduate teaching ability.
