Purpose:
The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning serves as a member of the
Superintendent’s Cabinet and provides district wide leadership for curriculum, instruction,
assessment, and professional learning. This position is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of instructional programs to ensure high levels of student achievement and alignment with district goals.
The Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning supports the Superintendent in ensuring coherence, collaboration, and high performance across campuses and departments, and serves as a senior instructional leader for the district.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree in educational leadership, administration, or curriculum instruction
- Doctorate degree preferred
- Appropriate Texas educator certification (mid-management, principal, or superintendent)
- Certification issued by the State Board Educator Certification
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible instructional leadership experience at the campus or district level
