Description

The Department of Classics at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall of academic year 2026-27. We seek a Hellenist with a specialization in the area of intellectual history. In addition to actively researching and publishing, job responsibilities include teaching Greek language and culture at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting research in Greek intellectual history, and providing service to the department and the university in the form of serving on committees, overseeing exams, and organizing events.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Classical Studies or a closely related field no later than August 15, 2026.

  • a sample of recent scholarship of no longer than 20 print pages;

Further materials, including a teaching portfolio including a teaching statement, sample syllabi, and student evaluations, as well as three letters of recommendation, may be solicited after a preliminary review.
