The District Strategic Leadership Division builds the capacity of LEA board members to better drive student outcomes by building foundational mindsets, knowledge, and skills. The Lead for Board Development and Training facilitates collaboration among internal agency teams and external stakeholders to incorporate best practices into programs, continuously improving content and training.
Essential FunctionsPartner with agency subject matter experts to create and continuously improve upon EISO training content, facilitate the training and certification process, and review Authorized Provider applications.
Directly develop and partner with experts to create and continuously improve upon LSG milestone trainings and tools, support facilitators, and directly facilitate training of LSG board coaches.
Directly develop and partner with experts to create and continuously improve upon TSL milestone trainings and tools, support facilitators, and facilitate training of TSL teams to support superintendents.
Collaboration:
Partner with subject matter experts and vendors to incorporate board best practices into other agency programmatic work, support facilitators, and facilitate training for internal and external audiences.
Evaluate effectiveness of content and training through check‑ins, reviews of exit tickets, surveys, and metric data, and incorporate feedback to improve content and training.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university. - Experience:
At least five (5) years of experience in (1) creating training content for training of trainers and (2) facilitating training and certification processes for trainers.
- Share the belief that all Texas students can achieve at high levels and are able to succeed in college, career, or the military.
- Direct experience with board support is highly preferred (e.g., board member, board coach, district leadership position engaging with the board).
- Track record of success in creating, facilitating, and certifying trainers in complex content towards impact.
- Understanding of the functions, processes, and challenges of school systems, superintendents, and school boards (highly preferred).
- Knowledge of school governance research and best practices such as Student-Centered Goals and Monitoring, Board Policy and Guardrails, Superintendent Oversight and Support, Continuous Improvement of Governance.
- Knowledge of research-based district system best practices such as high-quality instructional materials adoption, instructional leadership, strategic staffing and compensation, and college, career, and military preparation pathways.
- Track record of success managing multiple stakeholders towards ambitious, shared vision and goals by setting clear expectations and holding others accountable for performance. Strong coaching and capacity-building skills to help all stakeholders perform effectively.
- Highly organized with strong planning and project management skills; ability to balance demands of multiple projects at different stages of development while maintaining quality and consistency across all work.
- Ability to build relationships and strong rapport with others, and an ability to manage relationships with senior district and internal agency stakeholders.
