Music Teacher Position
Hyde Park Schools seeks to hire a Music Teacher for the 2026-27 school year, who is passionate about uniquely engaging students, who connects strongly with them and their families, and who wants to be part of a team that is continually seeking to strengthen and encourage each other. Teachers are expected to incorporate a biblical worldview in classroom instruction in order to encourage students to reach their God-given potential.
Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in music education, a minimum of one full year classroom teaching experience, and a state issued Music Teacher Certificate. Orff-Schulwerk certification or experience is ideal.
Salary is based on a scale and is commensurate with your experience.
Responsibilities- Lead groups of 12-16 4K-5th grade students in music classes integrating Orff percussion instruments, vocal music, ukuleles, and movement
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate music curricula that teaches fundamental concepts like rhythm, melody, and pitch through singing, movement and instruments
- Plan and implement fine arts performances throughout the school year, and collaborate with grade level teachers on Hyde Park traditional performances
- Foster a love of music considering each child’s unique learning style and development
- Maintain an assortment of instruments, including safe storage and needed upkeep and repairs
- Collaborate with colleagues on horizontal and vertical curriculum planning and cross-curricular learning opportunities
- Maintain a physical classroom environment which is visually engaging, well-organized, encourages learning, and is free from distractions
- Guide students in their social emotional development with a focus on developing self-management, making good choices, and setting well-defined classroom and school wide expectations
- Foster healthy parent communication through email correspondence and phone calls, and classroom newsletters
- Build strong working relationships with colleagues and administrators which include both constructive feedback and mentoring of others
- Opportunity to collaborate and perform with the chapel worship team
- Lower School teachers will be trained in Responsive Classroom practices
- Other duties as assigned
