Job Description

Summary:

Responsible for preparing and delivering Architecture coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline‑appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success and create an environment that promotes belonging for all.

Principal

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare and teach Architecture courses to a multicultural student population based on approved learning outcomes, using a variety of instructional strategies.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
  • Provide teaching and mentoring services that do not discriminate based on protected categories.
  • Remain current in the field through professional development.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by department chair, dean, or higher administration.

Additional Duties:

  • Contribute to the development of course curriculum for specific Architecture courses within the Associate of Science degree program.

Technology:

  • Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, online resources, and classroom technologies.
  • Use an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop course content and administer duties.

Principal Professional Standards:

  • Meet deadlines for attendance certification and final grade submission.
  • Maintain regular office hours to assist students.
  • Demonstrate civility and collegiality in all interactions.
  • Comply with college policies and meet professional teaching standards.
  • Use the college's learning management system appropriately.

Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Architecture from an NAAB‑accredited institution plus architectural licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction;
  • Master's degree in Architecture or Architecture Studies; or
  • Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Architecture.

Required

Work Experience:

  • Three (3) years of documented professional experience in architectural design and building project production using current technology and software, including expertise in commercial and residential design, structural assemblies, and MEP systems.

Preferred

Work Experience:

  • College‑level teaching experience, including production of curriculum materials (syllabi, lecture materials, videos, student handouts).

Additional Requirements:

  • Active architectural licensure/registration is preferred.
