Job DetailsA CPR Instructor is responsible for teaching Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life support (BLS) to individuals and groups. We are seeking to hire a UT student who is interested in becoming an AHA BLS instructor to support the School of Nursing’s AHA Training Center and assist with weekly BLS classes during the Fall
25, Spring
26, and Summer
26 semesters.
UTSON BLS Instructors play a vital role in equipping students with life‑saving skills through hands‑on training in Basic Life Support. Instructors lead engaging, in‑person classes that cover CPR, AED use, and other core BLS techniques. They demonstrate essential procedures, observe and evaluate students’ performance, and provide constructive feedback to ensure mastery. Upon successful completion of all course components, instructors finalize the necessary certification steps, confirming each participant is fully prepared and qualified.
Responsibilities- Attend UTSON BLS Instructor Candidate Training.
- Set up equipment, prepare classroom, and teach materials to students according to the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines and Instructor Manual.
- Facilitate course agendas, manage a classroom, provide feedback, and administer exams to students.
- Maintain UT Box CPR/One Drive folder and replenish course forms. Update (data entry) CPR spreadsheet.
- Transport equipment and supplies to offsite locations per requests, if applicable.
- 18 years of age with some healthcare experience.
- Must have current BLS certification through AHA.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, technical and organizational skills.
$25/hr
Work ShiftBLS Class (4‑hrs):
Friday: 1:30pm – 5:30pm, 4:00pm – 8:00pm
BLS and Heart Saver First Aid Class (6‑hrs):
Tuesday or Thursday: 8:30am – 1:30pm
Some weekends – Mainly Saturdays from 9am – 1pm (2‑4hrs)
