Elementary School Substitute Teacher

Headwaters School is seeking caring individuals to join our community as Elementary Substitute Teachers. Ideal candidates will have teaching or childcare experience, flexible schedules, and a willingness to work with limited notice.

Our Elementary Montessori program serves children from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children participate in individual, small, and whole‑group lessons, both in partnerships and independently, progressing at their own pace.

Substitute Teachers are responsible for providing and implementing the daily lesson plans according to the School's requirements. They manage the classroom environment, provide activities and materials, and promote student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

• A minimum of 30 college credit hours or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (preferred)
• Montessori experience (preferred)
• Experience working with children/students, required
• Professional appearance

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Passion for working with young people
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Ability to follow oral and written directions
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies

Services are generally provided within a standard classroom environment. Some movement throughout the classroom is necessary to facilitate learning (e.g., standing, walking, stooping, bending, sitting, and/or kneeling). Light lifting of materials up to approximately 20 to 40 lbs. may be required.
