Summary Of PositionSt. Michael's Catholic Prep seeks a full-time, on-campus Visual Arts teacher for grades 9-12. This position requires a dynamic, innovative educator to teach at many high school levels, including Honors or AP courses. Responsibilities include teaching assigned sections of courses, leading an advisory, participating in ongoing community service projects and retreats with students and fellow teachers, and the opportunity to design and implement elective courses.
We are looking for an instructor who inspires our community to new depths in the visual arts, continues to grow and deepen our current art curriculum, and embraces graphic and digital media. This is an exempt faculty position. The employee will work for 10 months of the year, starting in August 2026.

- Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
- Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting and understand the versatility of acrylic paints: dry brushing, staining, layering, under painting, monoprinting.
- Understand a variety of master techniques.
- Know and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art.
- Know the fundamentals and different approaches to drawing media techniques.
- Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment.
- Incorporate projects that utilize technology and digital/graphic media such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other commonly used visual art applications.
- Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection.
- Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings.
- Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community.
