Purpose: To help fulfill the mission of the school to provide the college preparatory education by providing a classical Christian educational environment through effective pedagogical strategies, content mastery, classroom management skills, and godly interaction with students, families, and school faculty and staff.
This position will be available as of March 1, 2026 with a flexible start date.
Accountability: Reports to Middle School Principal
FLSA status: Exempt, Full-time (100%)
Qualification- Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith.
- Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith of this school.
- A bachelor’s degree is required. Must be qualified to teach the subject-area at the appropriate level. Certification in the content area is preferred.
- Must possess sufficient biblical knowledge that enables the teacher to integrate Scripture into subjects taught, thus imparting to the students a biblical worldview.
- Must understand and skillfully apply the principles of classical education to teaching.
- Establish and promote high Christian standards in the academic setting.
- Establish positive and professional rapport with students and peers that earns and maintains their respect and demonstrates pride in the education profession.
- Demonstrate mastery of the material being taught and maintain students’ and parents’ confidence in the quality of their educational experience.
- Utilize effective pedagogical strategies in the classroom to engage students in the learning process.
- Teach the content and skills relevant to the course as outlined by school administration and department chairs.
- Maintain a safe environment at all times in your classroom, including but not limited to the proper handling, documentation and storage of chemicals, wearing appropriate eye protection and clothing, and providing instruction and supervision of students to ensure safety.
- Plan and implement lesson plans in accordance with relevant standards that facilitate intrinsic motivation for learning as well as content mastery.
- Teach subject matter with sincere deference to Scripture. Intentionally incorporate the Christian faith into lessons and activities as applicable.
- Facilitate a positive classroom atmosphere by engaging students in the learning process, maintaining positive rapport with students and families, and creating an orderly environment conducive to learning.
- Input attendance records and grades, as outlined by supervisors, into the school information system on a timely basis in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in student discipline in ways that are constructive, restore relationships, and bring students back into alignment with the code of conduct.
- Involve parents as appropriate to ensure their involvement and assistance.
- Engage in professional development as required and/or encouraged by school administrators and department chairs.
- Attend and participate in all staff and departmental meetings as required by school administrators and department chairs.
- Establish and maintain an up-to-date inventory system for all school materials and equipment relevant to assigned courses and teaching assignments.
- Ensure students and staff care for and respect the school’s physical facilities.
- Report incidents of vandalism and misuse of school property to the appropriate school official, administrator, or supervisor.
- Address any staff, student, or parent issues in accordance with the principles set forth in Matthew 18 as commanded by Jesus Christ and implemented at Hill Country.
- Maintain a “substitute binder” that is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Notify administration and maintain appropriate documentation regarding significant discipline issues such as violence, vandalism, and significant moral failure.
- Notify the head of school, principal, and nurse immediately, along with any appropriate agencies, when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, talk or threats of suicide, or students appearing to…
