Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Build Lab Manager, the Build Lab Technician will assist students and faculty in the design and fabrication of projects, prototypes, and objects using a variety of materials including wood, metal, plastic, and more. This role supports safe operations and maintenance of both traditional and computer-aided equipment within the Build Lab. The technician will help monitor lab usage, maintain tools and supplies, and promote safety protocols while gaining hands-on experience in fabrication techniques and lab management.
Responsibilities
* Under the direct supervision of the Build Lab Manager, the Build Lab Technician will assist students and faculty in the design and fabrication of projects, prototypes, and objects using a variety of materials including wood, plastic, and more.
* This role supports safe operations and maintenance of both traditional and computer-aided equipment within the Build Lab. The technician will help monitor lab usage, maintain tools and supplies, and promote safety protocols while gaining hands-on experience in fabrication techniques and lab management.
Required Qualifications
Studies in design or fabrication-based curriculum, or an allied field (such as an artist practice, product design, carpentry, etc.). Experience in fabrication and the maintenance of analog and digital fabrication equipment. Demonstrated ability to teach and train others the knowledge and skills required to use tools, materials, and techniques safely and effectively to with wood and a variety of other materials.
Demonstrated ability to lead and effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's and/or master's degree in a related art/design field. Academic or professional shop supervisory/management experience. Experience teaching workshops or classes, preferably to college-aged students.
Hourly Rate
$26.44
Working Conditions

Work Shift
* Hours per week - 20 to 25
* Hours include evenings and weekends.
Monday - Thursday 5-9
Sunday 12-8
Weekend hours are required but may be adjusted to suit the needs of the right candidate.
