Primary Purpose

Provide instruction and instructional support services to students assigned to ISS/DAEP. Work under the direct supervision of certified teacher.

Qualifications
  • High school disploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associates degree or two years of higher education credit (preferred)
  • Will need to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certification (required)
  • Valid Level III Texas Educational Aide Certification (preferred)
  • Must meet paraprofessional requirements under Title I, Part A
  • Acceptable background check and fingerprinting results
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
Experience
  • Some experience working with children required.
  • Three years experience as classroom aide preferred.
Instructional Support
  • Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
  • Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
  • Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
  • Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
  • Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
Student Management
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work closely with teachers by communicating special needs or problems of individual students.
  • Provide direct supervision to DAEP/ISS students throughout the school day.
Other
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events when required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
